29.9x22.1 in ~ Painting, Watercolor, Embroidery
Although I am afraid of the sea, I am constantly drawn to it by its majestic presence. I often go there to walk along the seashore and allow the sights and sounds do its thing. Towards the evening, the crowds disappear, the clouds accumulate, the tides withdraw and the gulls fly towards the horizon- it is at this time that I was struck by a shaft of light that pierced through the clouds and a trail of silvery water along the coastline mesmerized me.
The horizon glowed with a pale golden hue and the hovering dark cloud accentuated the dramatic scene with striking contrasts. The interaction of warm gold with cool blue/silver tones makes this piece so relaxing to look at.
The embroidery is limited to the foreground, mostly defining the textural rocky beach which has the effect of scanning your vision to the glorious water colour skyline.
This piece is not framed but it is window mounted on white acid free card bringing the size to 80x60cm. A silver or light gold frame would look spectacular.
